Great Sights in Hawaii

The most recent of the 50 United States, Hawaii is one of the most beautiful and diverse. Full of rumbling volcanoes, incredible wildlife, and an enchanting native culture, the islands of Hawaii have much to offer. If you’re planning a trip to this island paradise in the near future, consider these wonderful attractions to ensure that your trip becomes the time of your life.

Kilauea

Pronounced kill-ah-way-ah, this is one of the most majestic sights in Hawaii. Located on the main island of Hawaii, Kilauea is a non-dormant volcano that serves as one of the main attractions of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The park allows visitors to travel up close to the mouth of the volcano, and it’s not uncommon for sightseers to get a glimpse of molten lava rumbling down the sides. The volcano is also surrounded by rainforests, lava deserts, and other natural beauties, and provides adventurers with an island playground to explore.

Limahuli Gardens

These beautiful gardens are situated on the coast of the island of Kaua’i. A section of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, Limahuli Gardens gives visitors the chance to distinguish all the different flora that the Hawaiian islands have to offer. While the trail around the park stretches less than a mile, each step is surrounded by bright images of lush foliage. Those visiting the site can navigate the gardens at their own pace with the help of a companion booklet.

Waimea Canyon

Another beautiful attraction on Kaua’i, Waimea Canyon is the product of years of tumbling molten lava. The canyon is a large fissure of lava rock that stretches 13 miles and descends around 2500 feet downward into the riverbed below. The Waimea River flows swiftly through the canyon, giving visitors a beautiful view of the water winding around bends. This area is best visited on a sunny day after a decent rain, when the waterfalls are crashing and the lava glows a beautiful red.

Lydgate Beach Park

Another beautiful attraction on the island of Kaua’i, the Lydgate Beach Park offers individuals and groups a fun and family friendly location to visit on their trip to Hawaii. The calm waters directly off of the beach are a result of the protection from a stone breakwater, and this is the perfect location for beginner swimmers to test their skills in the waters off of the islands. Snorkeling is also a great activity here, as the sights below the surface aren’t disrupted by strong currents.

Adding more to the family atmosphere this park includes the Kamalani Playground, a giant wooden castle that acts as a play structure for children and young adults. Also there is the Kamalani Kai Play Bridge, a community-built bridge that includes a multitude of children’s art and other sights that kids are sure to love. This area offers fun for the whole family.

Island in the Sun

With these attractions on your itinerary, the next step is getting a ticket and flying west. Touching down on the island paradise is your next step toward exploring all of the mystery and wonder the islands of Hawaii have to offer.
